Since 1999 Nova Law School has been holding and organizing the SPEED Seminars - an acronym of Seminário Permanente sobre o Estado e o Estudo do Direito, which means Permanent Seminar on the State and the Study of Law - as part of its institutional goals towards developing scientific and post graduate research and as an opportunity for scientific discussion and knowledge exchange.
The SPEED seminars started as a way of complementing the Ph.D Programs and as an opportunity for Ph.D Candidates to present and discuss their research with colleagues, professors and the academic community in general whilst receiving feedback and fomenting interest in different and often transdiciplinary topics.
However, due to the success of the presentations, the initial scope of the seminars was expanded so as to allow Professors, Post-doc researchers and other members of Academia to share their work, especially regarding innovative approaches towards traditional issues on Law Research and research and teaching methodologies applicable to Law.
